About MySRD
MySRD is an independent information website. We are not the South African Social Security Agency, we are not the Department of Social Development, and we have no affiliation with any South African government body. We do not process grant applications, review appeals, or make payments. When you need to take any official action, use the official channels listed at the bottom of this page.
Who runs MySRD
MySRD is written and maintained by the MySRD Editorial Team, a group of researchers focused on South African social welfare policy, grant administration, and consumer protection for grant beneficiaries. The team is responsible for verifying every fact against primary sources before publishing, updating articles as SASSA policy changes, and correcting errors as soon as readers report them.
Editorial contact and corrections: talhaabid00091@gmail.com. We reply to editorial corrections within a few working days.
What this site does
We publish plain-language 2026 guides on the topics SASSA beneficiaries search for most: SRD R370 status checks, permanent grant applications, payment dates, decline reasons, the appeals process, and the truth about USSD, WhatsApp and Postbank card changes. Every article is written to answer the question directly, without ads or dark patterns, and to point you to the correct official channel next.
How we verify facts
Every grant amount, contact number, URL, and payment date on this site is checked against official SASSA and government sources before publishing, and re-checked when we update articles.
- Primary sources: sassa.gov.za press releases and news pages, the SRD portal at srd.sassa.gov.za, Government Gazette notices, and Department of Social Development announcements.
- Secondary sources: parliamentary Q&A transcripts, court judgments involving SASSA (High Court and Constitutional Court), and reporting by South African news outlets (GroundUp, News24, Daily Maverick) when they cite the primary source we can then confirm.
- Contested facts: where a source contradicts another, we flag it internally and either withhold the fact or state the ambiguity in plain English rather than guess. Current unresolved flags include the exact current SASSA USSD code (no code is listed on any current official page) and one alternate WhatsApp number that appears on third-party sites but no official channel.
- Freshness: every article has an "Updated [date]" line showing the last verification date. When SASSA changes an amount, we update the entity database first, then the affected articles, then republish.
Corrections policy
If you spot a fact on this site that does not match the official sources, email talhaabid00091@gmail.com with the URL of the affected page and the correct source. We correct confirmed errors within one working day of confirmation. Where the correction changes the meaning of the article materially, we add a dated note at the top of the article.
What we will never do
- Ask you for your ID number, PIN, banking password, or one-time PIN (OTP).
- Charge you for any SASSA-related service. SASSA services are free.
- Promise to speed up your application or "unlock" a declined status.
- Send you WhatsApp or SMS messages asking you to click a link and enter personal details.
- Accept paid links, sponsorships, or affiliate arrangements on SASSA-related content.
If anyone claims to represent this site and asks you for money or personal details, they are a scammer. Report them to SASSA on 0800 60 10 11 and to the SASSA Fraud Hotline on 0800 60 10 11.
